Former West Virginia Black Bears' Andrew Walker suspended

The Office of the Commissioner for Major League Baseball announced that Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Andrew Walker has been suspended for 50 games for violation of Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Read more here.

Walker was signed by the Pirates as a free agent on July 5, 2016 out of Southwestern Christian College and assigned to the Gulf Coast Pirates. He played in 13 games for the West Virginia Black Bears in 2017 (.171/.306/.195). Walker was promoted to the West Virginia Power on July 23, 2017.
