Deon Stafford off to a fast start with West Virginia Power

Former West Virginia Black Bears catcher Deon Stafford is off to a fast start this season with the West Virginia Power in the South Atlantic League (SAL). Stafford has played in 17 games with the Power and is the second leading hitter (.308/.361/.508) on the team.  He is hitting .325 with 2 HR and 5 RBI in his last 10 games. The Power are currently three games out of first place in the SAL Northern Division with a 14-11 record.

Stafford was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fifth round of the 2017 draft out of St. Joseph University (PA). He spent the entire 2017 with the Black Bears and was named to the New York-Penn League All-Star game.
